The other is some one who is different from the "original American".. I promise this isn't meant to be insaulting but this is the only thing that came to mind. The other is someone who has different religions, cultures, beliefs, and are sometimes at a disadvantage financially and economically, especially when they are pretrade in the media and in movies. In the passage, " Borders of Community: Difference and Otherness", it saids, " When we speak of constructions of "otherness," we are speaking not only of an attitude or belief, but also of the embodiment of that belief in language and images that make up the cultural environment.
